Student Interest Groups
What Are Student Interest Groups?
Student Interest Groups at Harrison are student-initiated and teacher-supported, giving students meaningful opportunities to explore their interests beyond the traditional classroom. From trading Pokémon cards and crafting to board games and the Multicultural Student Organization, each group offers a space for creativity, connection, and fun. These clubs help students build friendships, develop leadership skills, and strengthen teamwork, communication, and problem-solving — all while doing what they love in a supportive environment.
Harrison Student Interest Group Guidelines
- All student interest groups must have a current flyer posted on the bulletin board in the main hallway to advertise the information. A take-home flyer can be made to put in the organizer next to the bulletin board for students to take home to their parents.
- All flyers must be approved by the staff sponsor prior to being posted on the bulletin board and put in the organizer next to the bulletin board.
- The front office will hang the flyer on the board and make copies of the take-home flyer.
- Parent permission via Parent Square is required to join. It must be submitted before students can attend the meeting. Membership in the student interest groups is on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Anyone can join, but there can be a max number allowed in the student interest groups.
- The maximum number is to be determined by the staff sponsor.
- There will be no applications for membership in the student interest groups.
- There will be no meeting location changes without prior approval from the staff sponsor.
- NO money can be collected for any student interest groups. Any outside presenter must be approved by the principal 1 week prior to the presentation.
- The presenter may only interact with the Student Interest Group. GUEST SPEAKER REQUEST FORM
- All Student Interest Groups are created Term 1 and 3. No new groups will be added Term 2 and 4.
